The new Lineage Power® Barracuda™ family are digitally controlled, fully-regulated DOSA compliant, PMBus equipped DC-DC bus converters. These converters are designed to support 9.6 -12Vdc intermediate bus applications where multiple low voltages are subsequently generated using point of load (POL) converters, as well as other application requiring a tightly regulated output voltage. The Barracuda series provides up to 33A output current at output voltages from 5.0Vdc to 13.2Vdc in standards-based eighth-brick and quarter-brick DOSA footprints. The converter incorporates digital control, synchronous rectification technology, and innovative packaging techniques to achieve efficiency reaching 96% peak at 12Vdc, eliminating the need for heat sinks in many applications. The modules operates over an input voltage range from 36 to 75 Vdc and provide a single regulated output, which is fully isolated from the input, allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections. Additionally, built-in filtering for both input and output minimizes the need for external filtering. The BD series Barracuda converters provide a complete user interface of input, output, on/off, trim, sense and PMBus connections; while the BV series Barracuda converters provide only input, on/off and output connections to be drop-in replacements for legacy 5 pin unregulated and semi-regulated bus converters.
